The 1769-OB16 compact solid output module is a device by Allen Bradley with 16 outputs alongside a 24-volt DC voltage source. The 1769-OB16 is a MicroLogix 1500 and 1769 CompactLogix controller compatible module. This electronic module is a Sixteen (16) channel 24VDC discrete output module. This module has a single group of outputs typically used to energize electrical loads operating with 24VDC voltage.
This module may also be used to energize AC loads via interposing function. With interposing function, relays are used wherein the output module energizes the relay coil. AC voltage, such as 120 / 240VAC is terminated across the relay’s contacts to allow passage of AC voltage to the connected electrical load.
This module is a single slot module which may be directly installed to the 1769 CompactLogix assembly or MicroLogix 1500 controller. If installed to a CompactLogix controller, the power supply distance rating of 8 modules must be observed. This means any installation of this module must be not greater that 8 modules away from the power supply. If installed with a MicroLogix 1500 controller, the module is installed beside the MocroLogix base module and connects to the backplane via a provided ribbon cable.
This module is compatible for use with any 1769 CompactLogix controller and 1769 CompactLogix Power supplies such as 1769-PA2, 1769-PB2, 1769-PA4, 1769-PB4. This module uses a terminal block with part number 1769-RTBN18. This terminal block is shipped along with the module. When wiring the module, use recommended wire sizes of 22-14 AWG for solid wire and 22-16 AWG for stranded wire.
